Research and find a New Zealand citizen who has been publicly recognised for being informed, responsible, critical and active (in other words, an effective and 'outstanding' citizen)
Find out some interesting facts about them. We will be focusing on writing research questions in class, so just a bit of background is needed this week. Come to class with a photo of your chosen NZ citizen, their name a few quick facts to share with the class (e.g. outstanding achievement, birth place, etc)
Try http://www.localhistories.org/famousnewzealanders.html for a list of famous New Zealanders if you are having trouble, but remember, just because they are famous doesn't mean they are informed, responsible, critical and active!!
Task Two: Mathematics: Geometry and Measurement
a. Complete your worksheet about enlargements
b. Look through newspapers and brochures and find some logos of a range of companies. Select atleast 5 to glue into your book to discuss in maths when designing your own company logo.
c. Complete any task sheets from your house design project that you did not get finished in class time. New maths links to try this week (these are also on the maths resources pages in the navigator): Multiplication Games Maths Playground Timez Attack
Task Three: English: Parts of Speech
Show me what you have learnt about parts of speech this term by completing this activity to create your own 'magnetic' poetry kit! It will then act as a resource for spelling and vocabulary activities! Try to be creative with your word choices and use a thesaurus. You might want to go with a theme for your kit (e.g. friendship, pets, sports, etc)
